We will say the quiet part first: a lot of what we build, a capable person in your business could build. Whether they should is a different question, and it usually comes down to what happens on the day it breaks.

When the other option is the right one
A comparison page that never recommends the alternative is an advertisement, not a comparison.
Do it yourself wins when
- You have someone technical with spare time who enjoys this work
- The automation is low stakes: if it stops for a day, nothing bad happens
- You want to learn it, which is a perfectly good reason
If two of those are true of you, do that instead. We would rather tell you now than take a deposit for something that will not pay for itself.
We win when
- The automation touches customers, money or a legal obligation
- Nobody in the business has a spare fortnight
- You have already built something that quietly stopped working
