Is your SMS showing as
“Unverified”?

Since 1 July 2026, alphanumeric SMS sender IDs going to Australian mobiles must be registered with the ACMA through an approved provider. Unregistered branded IDs are labelled Unverified on the handset and can be filtered. Type your sender ID below to see what your customers are looking at.

[ YOUR SENDER ID ]

What name do your texts come from?

Nothing is sent anywhere. This runs entirely in your browser, and we do not log it, because the whole point of the page is that you should not have to give us anything to find out where you stand.

[ WHAT YOUR CUSTOMER SEES ]

    The same message, both ways

    [ 01 / HOW TO CHECK ]

The check that actually tells you

Five steps, about ten minutes, and you need no tools beyond your own phone.

    1. Send yourself one. Trigger a real message from your system to your own mobile, on each of the three Australian networks if you can. This is the only check that shows what a customer sees.
    2. Read the sender line. If it shows your brand name, it is registered. If it shows Unverified, a warning, or falls back to a plain number where it used to show your name, it is not.
    3. Check every system that sends. Most businesses have more than one: the booking tool, the accounting system, the marketing platform, and whatever the last agency set up. Each one may use a different sender ID.
    4. Ask your provider directly. Any ACMA-approved messaging provider can tell you what is registered against your account. If they cannot answer quickly, that is itself informative.
    5. Check what you registered, not what you meant to. Registrations are per sender ID string. COASTLINE and Coastline and COASTLINEPL are three different things.
There is no public lookup we can run for you, so any tool that claims to instantly tell you your registration status is guessing. The checks above are what we do ourselves, and they take about ten minutes.
    [ 02 / WHAT NEXT ]

    Whichever way it went

Both outcomes have an obvious next step, and one of them is free.

[ IF IT SAYS UNVERIFIED ]

    You are non-compliant today

Not at some future date. Registration runs through an ACMA-approved messaging provider and takes one to three weeks, which is not something anyone can speed up by paying more. The sooner it starts, the sooner your messages read as yours again.

    Send us your sender ID
[ IF IT LOOKS FINE ]

    Check the other systems

The one you tested is registered. The booking tool, the accounting system and the marketing platform may each send under a different ID, and one unregistered sender is enough to make your business look untrustworthy at exactly the wrong moment.

    See what an audit covers

Want us to just handle it?

We audit what you are sending, register what needs registering through an approved provider, remediate the templates, and prove it on a real handset.

    [ 03 / QUESTIONS ]

    What people ask about this

Short answers, including the one where we tell you not to pay us.

What does Unverified actually mean on a handset?

It means the sender ID your message arrived under is not registered with the ACMA against an approved provider. Handsets and networks label it so recipients know the sender has not been checked, and some filtering may apply.

Does this affect messages sent from a normal mobile number?

No. The register covers alphanumeric sender IDs, the ones that show a name rather than a number. Numeric sender IDs such as virtual mobile numbers are not affected.

    Can I register it myself?

Yes. Registration goes through an ACMA-approved telco or messaging provider and requires an ABN. If you are comfortable dealing with your provider directly, do that and keep the money.

    How long does registration take?

Typically one to three weeks depending on the provider and the completeness of what you submit. Nobody can compress that meaningfully, which is why leaving it is expensive.

What does it cost through you?

The audit is $1,500 fixed. Registration and remediation is $900 to $1,800 depending on how many systems send under how many IDs. If a single sender ID is all you have, say so and we will tell you to do it yourself.
